A celebration of the chestnut harvest, this event takes place on the grounds of Kotai Shrine at the center of town. After a Shinto priest performs a ceremony, people enjoy various activities such as grabbing as many chestnuts as they can in a handful or comparing the taste of different types of roasted chestnuts. Tickets are also available for sale that can be used when stopping in at chestnut confectioners, sake breweries, and restaurants while walking around town.
